Spectacular Eminem- Jay-Z production was months in the making

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

“We’ve done things together,” the Detroit rapper told interviewers when announcing his upcoming shows with Jay-Z. “But I’m not sure we’ve ever done anything this big.”
With the superstar duo set to stage a massive home-and-home series ? a pair of Comerica Park shows this week followed by two at Yankee Stadium ? the superlatives are coming thick and fast from those close to the event. The biggest North American concerts this year, says one Comerica Park…

4MidiLoop – now with Pro X Fades

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

A little while ago, we talked about the best Traktor controller that NI never made. Well they’ve filled that particular gap, so where does that leave 4MidiLoop? Just about ready to ship that’s where – and it’s come on quite a bit since you first saw it too. DJ geeks always dreamed of a mixer box full of prime time faders, and 4MidiLoop has not 1… not 2… not… oh bugger it there’s 5 Pro X Fades inside this beauty, as well as what looks like all the buttons and knobs in the world too. Say hi to the finished 4MidiLoop.

Winner’s Circle – ‘Til the Lights Come On

Winner's Circle

With a name like Winner’s Circle, these guys must know how to celebrate in style, right? To answer my own rhetorical question, damn straight – and their latest offering, leak numero dos off their forthcoming street album, is proof. Making its world premiere here in the Booth, ‘Til the Lights Come On is a party jam par excellence, with beatsmith Mark Henry‘s retro-informed percussion/sample production backing the braggadocious, liquor-soaked lyricism of 386 Music all-stars Phil Adé, Da Phuture, Dee Boy and Stello. On the brassy chorus, D.C. crooner Raheem DeVaughn takes center stage, cutting through the ruckus with a little (just a little) help from everyone’s favorite studio effect. So, Booth readers, will you be flipping this one on at your next house party? Those digging Winner’s Circle’s victorious grooves can find this cut, the previously-featured 368 Killin ‘Em, and much more on their Smoking Section/DJBooth-cosponsored 368 FTW Vol. 1 street album, set to hit our mixtape page for streaming and free download September 16.

Miami Beat Wave ft. Skyzoo & Wrekonize – Virtue of Success

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Miami Beat Wave

Last we heard from Miami Beat Wave, the production crew had enlisted fellow Panhandle State natives ¡MAYDAY! for One Foot in the Grave, a politically and musically boundary-busting track seemingly designed to spark a revolution. Well, the powers that be can rest easy, at least for the moment – the newly-leaked Virtue of Success finds ¡MAYDAY! emcee Wrekonize in a considerably more capitalistic mood, dropping bars primarily concerned with the pursuit of profit (that and “tryin’ to take as much head as [he] can like the Highlander.”) over MBW’s sumptuously jazzy blend of subdued bass and smooth saxophone. On the front, Brooklyn representative Skyzoo spits laid-back rhymes about life’s finer things, showing off his penmanship as he exercises some of his more relaxed flows. Whether they’re trying to save the world or simply saying “F*ck it,” Miami Beat Wave never fail to deliver. For more hot beats and rhymes from the Floridian crew and their homies, grab a copy of their Booth-sponsored Slight Modification mixtape when it hits our front page for streaming and free download Sept. 14.
